My objective in my work is to show the beauty nature has to offer in a different and unique art form. Using only the finest top quality exotic and domestic woods, I design my creations basically by thought. Fortunately, I am one of those people, who can pick up a piece of wood and see the finished vessel in my mind. I assemble my vessels piece-by-piece, mitering and hand fitting into a unique assembly. The pieces are chemically bonded (glued) together into a one of a kind design. I have never duplicated any of my pieces. Also, I never use any stains or dyes in my creations. After assembly, the vessel is turned on a "One Way" wood lathe for shape and size. I then apply many coats of boiled linseed oil, by hand to the piece, which is the "old world way" of preserving wood. The average vessel is in my shop approximately two months; but some of my pieces have taken much longer. My wife is invaluable to me, taking care of all the paperwork; helping keep the shop clean; and giving me suggestions on my work. In February 2005, I did my first demonstration for a woodturning guild in Cincinnati, OH. This was a very interesting experience for me and I truly enjoyed it. If you are interested in my demonstration of the creations of my vessels, please contact me.
