When I create my vessels,
I make segments of wood with the use of my planers, sanders, table
saws, and band saw. Before the pieces are glued together, they are
hand sanded to create the perfect fit. Fortunately, when I look at a
piece of wood, I know what accent woods I will use. The main body is constructed first, then the bottom. I shape the body on the lathe; attach the bottom, then shape the whole piece. No stains or dyes are
used with my woods; I want to show off nature's beauty! The finish usually takes
longer than creating the piece.
It may take three weeks to complete the finish. The finish is a
boiled linseed oil, marketed as a gun stock refinishing oil. I
learned to use this product when I was creating custom gun stocks. It brings out the natural beauty of the woods and taking care of the
piece simple. The domestic and exotic woods I use are highest
grade and numerous. I am always looking for beautiful color and
grain.
My work
is 100% guaranteed. I have never had a piece returned since I
started creating in the spring of 1997.
